No pics yet, just rants

So I hate my schedule right now. I'm set up for what will probably be the most exhausting two weeks of my life.
On tap this week: Around 10-15 shoots for the Rec Complex before the end of the day on Friday, and I still need to schedule more. One of which will involve me being up at the butt crack of dawn to get pictures of crew practice on the water (crossing fingers because the president of the club said they have a hard time getting going in the early season).
Also a favorite of this week, Wednesday I'm leaving Columbia at 3:30 in the morning to go shoot the last part of my River City Rage project for the Missourian. A convergence reporter and I want to get stuff from practice and of the guys we're following hanging out afterwards. The things we do for journalism.
Next week: another really early shoot for sure, 6 a.m. cycling class, yeeeeaaa. Then on Tuesday I'm off to sunny So Cal for the rest of the week. Sounds great right? Well, actually it is, but it's no vacation. I'm attending the Sports Shooter Academy VI so I'll be working 12-15 hour days for 5 days straight. Should be a blast though.
Then I'm back in Columbia on the 12 and back at the grind of trying to survive yet another semester of college.
Um pics to follow...eventually...maybe...no promises.

Wet Shoots at the Rec

We're changing things up at the Rec and instead of having plain ol' headshots on a white backdrop for all the pro staff members, we're doing more location shoots and stuff that actually pertains to them or their job. course there's always room for a little fun...

He's so zen.

"He looks like he has a blowhole!"-My boss.

So we actually wanted the tie to float, just nobody expected it to do as good of a job as it did.

This is what happens when you let Jimmy self-direct on a shoot.

Yeah...speaks for itself. And we never had to push the tie up to make it float. Stayed up the whole time.

More of Jimmy's self directed antics.

Softball outtake

I goofed this morning and thought I was going to shoot a Club Softball game when really it was practice. Since we're wanting the photos of the club teams to look formal I couldn't really do a whole lot with the practice, but I do need to get some generic sports photos for some frames they want to put up at work so I started toying with silhouettes.
To get this I shot I just super underexposed with the sun behind my subject, did a little work on the levels to get her to pop out a touch more, then applied an infrared B&W adjustment.

Things that keep me running pt 2

When you've been sick as long as I have, it gets rough, both mentally and physically. I know that seems kind of dramatic because I don't have cancer or anything. I'm not gonna up and die.
But having a bacterial infection for over a month and adding a serious cold on top of that really takes its toll. So I try to find reasons to get healthy and feel better, other than to just be better.
Brayden is one of them. As a person who usually recovers from anything pretty quickly, I know I'm not going anywhere near my nephew until I fell 100%. If I'm having a hard time fighting this bug off, then it might just be potent enough to do some serious damage to him. I haven't seen him since Christmas and I'm really looking to seeing him walk and talk (though he hasn't started any of that yet, but by them time I do see him, I bet he will be.)

Things that keep me running

For the last month I've been fighting off a strep infection. So far I've done 10-day courses of Keflex and Amoxicillin, plus an injection of Penicillin, and I still didn't get rid of the damn bug. My doctor chalked it up to my tonsils being so scarred up from past infections that they aren't getting proper blood supply, thus not getting the antibiotics and basically becoming a breeding ground for the bacteria. So the tonsils got to go. Until then, a 40-day supply of Keflex keeps the bacteria in check and lets me function through the day.

Give Me a Thumbs Up!
