Light the Sky

Okay I know the framing sucks, and its not a spectacular 3 pronged fork, but I got this with very little effort and stayed decently dry as well.

Bye bye, Allie

So Allie ran into some issues with the Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG) and reporters or something. She's hasn't fully explained it to me yet. But the gist is that she had to take down her blog. Sad day. So her link is gone, but Lyndsey is still going strong. Err, well it's been a while since she's posted anything, but I suspect it's due to things getting busier over there with the games starting in 4 days. Though she really should put a story about all the Asian love she's been getting haha.

More Mizzou and construction

I know, I know! How can I possibly be putting up more lame pictures of Mizzou and construction? It fascinates me, what can I say?
The twins, as I call them. Seriously though, what are these called? Just 'The Lions"? I mean I know we got them from China and all, but no one ever really calls them anything.

Behold the monstrosity that is the giant hole in the middle of the Rollins/Hitt intersection. Now that there are large beams protruding up from within, I really wish I knew what the hell they were doing down there. But hey, the street wasn't actually flooded this time.
Taken from street level. Note how tiny the guys in the hole look.
I guess they decided the sidewalks needed a makeover as well. Why not, right?
As promised, a shot of the now sort of barren Quad. Will it actually be green by the time the fall semester starts? Seeing as how they've already started building what looks to be a fountain in the cul de sac, I think getting a flatbed up there to get sod in might be troublesome. So, no. I think not.
And to finish a lame snapshot of the back of the Brady expansion project. At first I thought they were moving along pretty well because they'd started putting on the exterior elements. Then someone credible told me this half of the project was supposed to have been completed by the time fall semester starts. Yeah, not so much.

HDR Madness

I went a little crazy with HDR today while I was out on campus shooting landmarks for a work project.
Things went much better as far as getting publishable results (i.e. not having shaky images because I couldn't sit still enough) thanks to some pointers from Ryan Gibbons. He'll probably still tell me I'm using it in the wrong situation in some of these photos, but I think I did a better job with that part as well.

Here's a lovely shot of the back of the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Basically once the grass is in, I'm not gonna complain about this place one bit, unless it starts falling apart after the first month.

The rest of these are pretty self explanitory (like if you don't know what they are I'm hitting you over the head with a hammer unless you show me an ID from 4 states away.
I'll probably have more construction photos up tomorrow. I got the backside of Brady, including a guy doing some welding that's sort of neat, and some more stuff of the hole in Rollins Rd that now eats up the entire Rollins/Hitt intersection. It's pretty crazy considering they have a month to fix that before they have to deal with 700 freshmen who live off campus expecting there to be a shuttle bus to take them to class.
